Der Barbarossaplatz ist Teil der Kölner Ringe, einer 7½ Kilometer langen Ringstraße in Köln. Benannt wurde der Platz am 10. Mai 1883 nach Friedrich I., genannt Barbarossa (italienisch für „Rotbart“).
