Slavonski Brod is a town in eastern Croatia. It lies on the north bank of the Sava, which forms the state border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the south side of the Sava lies the neighboring town of (Bosanski) Brod, which belongs to Bosnia.The city is the seat of the regional self-governing unit, the Brod-Posavina County (Brodsko-posavska županija). According to the results of the last census from 2011, 59,141 inhabitants live in the city.[1] It is the sixth largest city in Croatia and the second largest city in the Slavonia region after Osijek. The population consists mainly of Catholic Croats. Mayor is Mirko Duspara.
